The Bergen-headquartered rig contractor will perform drilling services, maintenance of the drilling facility and drill pipe logistics for the Mariner heavy oil field development starting in November 2016.
Statoil vice president of development and production in Western Europe Morten Ruud said the award to Odfjell Drilling’s Aberdeen base was an example of how “over its lifetime the project will generate jobs and substantial ripple effects for UK and the Aberdeen region”.
