The company’s Keppel Offshore & Marine arm secured the contract from Socar’s Caspian Drilling Company.
Socar president Rovnag Abdullayev said the Azeri explorer was “keen to expand our offshore drilling programme to drill wells such as the Babak and Absheron fields in addition to the Shah Deniz field”.
As first reported by Upstream last month, Socar has chosen Keppel FELS as its main contractor for the unit and potential future units in Azerbaijan.
