Hundreds of jobs are on the line following announcements in late 2008 that major players were scaling down plans on expansion projects and new facilities.
"The boom is over. Right now the only thing keeping Alberta's economy going is the mop-up of the tail end of the boom," said president of the Alberta Federation of Labour, Gil McGowan
"We won't be a seeing a dramatic rise in unemployment in the oil patch for at least the next six months because many of the projects under way will continue (until completion)," he added.
