The US supermajor intends to drill up to 33 wells in the reserve under its Greater Mooses Tooth Unit project after securing the drilling permit and right-of-way grant from the Interior Department’s Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
It will involve construction of a 48 square-metre well pad in the northern part of the 93,000 square-kilometre NPR-A – almost the size of Indiana state –as well as elevated surface pipelines, giving access to oil and gas resources both on federal lands and on Arctic Slope Regional Corporation (ASRC) acreage in Alaska.
