Stena Carron left the location of the successful Liza-2 appraisal last week and headed to the next prospect, Skipjack, which sits about about 24 miles (39 kilometres) to the north-west of the Liza-1 discovery well.
An ExxonMobil representative confirmed the rig move to Upstream and said the supermajor plans to spud the well by the end of the month.
Upstream sources familiar with the geology in the vast Guyana-Suriname basin called the Skipjack prospect a lookalike to Liza, reiterating comments previously made by executives at ExxonMobil's partner Hess that the Stabroek block contained numerous structures with similar attributes as Liza.
But
