The US supermajor leads the Sakhalin 1 offshore oil and gas development in the far east of Russia.
Speaking on Thursday at Russia’s LNG Congress in Moscow, ExxonMobil Russia vice president Alex Volkov said that the Sakhalin 1 consortium “will promote the project at a pace which will ensure maximum profitability”.
The project has a long lifespan of between 25 and 35 years and the decision to go ahead with it “does not really depend upon the today’s oil price”, Volkov said.
