Atkinson is currently in charge of Talisman Energy's businesses in Australia and Papua New Guinea, and has been with Talisman since 2001. Prior to then, he worked for Lundin’s predecessor companies.
Atkinson holds a degree in Petroleum Engineering as well as a MBA, and will start his position in early February 2014 based in Kuala Lumpur.
Lundin has a number of oil and gas discoveries offshore Malaysia in various stages of development.
