BHP was reported to have approached Modec directly to lease and operate a floater for the field in order to save time on the already delayed project, bypassing other suppliers in the Asian region who had an eye on the contract.
Modec is also building a floater for operation on BHP's Stybarrow field, which shares the Carnarvon basin with the Pyrenees discovery.
