The rig, designated Rig 205, will sit on top the platform in Green Canyon block 65. Future commitments may include tours of duty on the Brutus tension-leg platform in Green Canyon block 158, and the Cognac and Spirit fixed platforms in the Mississippi Canyon and Viosca Knoll areas, respectively.
Rig contractor Helmerich & Payne was awarded the contract from Shell to build and operate the 2000 horsepower Rig 205 for use on both fixed and tension-leg platforms in the Gulf.
