The jacket and topsides of the private company’s Welland facilities were removed last month from the Southern North Sea and are now at Hoondert Quay in the Netherlands.

While the jacket is set to be scrapped, the topsides are being refurbished for use in Perenco’s Cameroon operations, according to John Sewell, Perenco's UK operations manager.

“We feel this project demonstrates you can do decommissioning safely and at a lower cost-base than many in the industry expect,” Sewell told UpstreamOnline ahead of giving a presentation on the company’s UK operations East
