"Currently we are focused on oil assets, as the company is 65-70% gas producing, which is why we are looking at shale oil," he said.
According to him, Petronas would like to start a foothold in Argentina shale arena which is less competitive than US shale where there are much more players.
In the deal with Argentina's YPF SA concluded this week, Petronas will be starting a pilot three years, which allows the option to exit if necessary.
