Sudanese troops have now retreated from the border position following heavy fighting between the neighbours which began some weeks ago, the BBC reported on Wednesday.
South Sudan's army has said it has advanced towards the strategic oil town of Heglig but stopped short of saying it had captured the town, according to the report on the BBC's website.
