Petronas venture director of domestic LNG projects Datuk Abdullah Karim said that the milestone 13 months on from the completion of topsides construction meant the project was closer to becoming the world’s first operational floating LNG facility.
The operation is being conducted at the quayside of Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME)’s shipyard in Okpo, South Korea.
The first 2000-tonne topside module, on which power generation and control functions instruments are to be installed, was lifted by DSME using a 3600-tonne marine crane.
