The company logged about 160 feet of gross hydrocarbon pay at the A-5 sidetrack well, which is currently being completed. W&T did not say how deep the well was drilled, but it was permitted to a total depth of 16,000 feet.
It was drilled in 560 feet of water with platform rig H&P 203, federal records show.
"We expect recovery from the well to exceed our pre-drill estimates and we anticipate that the well could be online and flowing by the end of the second quarter," the company said in a statement late on Thursday.
