The operator is preparing to spud an appraisal of the find in four weeks, which could ultimately prove up Heidelberg to be - as Anadarko suspects - one of its biggest discoveries in the US Gulf.
Anadarko had also been pondering a subsea tie-back option for Heidelberg, which would require an expansion of the process capacity at the existing Constitution spar.
